.338 Winchester Magnum

338 Winchester Magnum. This rifle started life as a Remington 700 BDL in 300 Winchester Magnum, but after a "rationalisation" of my rifles in 1997, I had it re-barreled with a 22" Tobler stainless barrel. Topped with a Leupold Vari III 2.5-8 scope in  Leupold rings and bases, this rifle weighs in at 7 and one half pounds unloaded. More recently I have added an MPI  the Remington "classic" style fiberglass stock, pillar bedded to the action. I have also had the action nickel coated for all weather use.

I have used a range of loads in this rifle, including: 200gn Nosler Ballistic Tip, 210gn Barnes XBT, and 225gn Woodleigh Weldcore bullets. I currently use 250gn Weldcore bullets as my main load for this rifle. This rifle is primarily used for larger game such as sambar deer in Australia. I also plan to use this in Africa some time in the future, and hopefully America as well.
